Regeneration Times Report / According to IDC data, global printer shipments increased by 2.2% year-on-year to 22.8 million units. Shipments in the quarter were valued at $11 billion, up 14% year-over-year.
IDC believes that improvements in product availability, fulfillment of orders, and reductions in factory production constraints are all reasons for the increase in printer shipments this quarter.
From a regional perspective, except for Japan, all regional markets achieved year-on-year shipment growth in the first quarter, with the US leading the way with a 27.7% increase, followed by China at 19.1% and Western Europe at 11.7%. Among them, the inventory improvement of some leading brands, coupled with the recovery of operations and the release of pent-up demand, drove the growth of shipments of enterprise models and A3 divisions.
Among the top five suppliers, three achieved year-on-year growth, among which Canon increased by 11.2%, Brothers increased by 16%, and Pantum increased by 33.9%.
