Brother Industries donates 35 million JPY for Ukraine crisis and Turkey-Syria earthquake relief

Brother Industries, Ltd. announced today that it will provide an extra donation of 35 million JPY to UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, through Japan for UNHCR, which is a national partner of UNHCR in Japan. The funds will be used for humanitarian aid to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake. The donation will be delivered through UNHCR to support local relief efforts.

Previously, in March 2022, Brother had donated 500,000 EUR to UNHCR via Japan for UNHCR to assist with humanitarian aid in Ukraine. In February 2023, Brother had also donated 50,000 USD to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake, as well as to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Turkey through the Group’s local branch in Turkey.

Brother made this additional donation in response to the prolonged crisis in Ukraine and the extensive damage caused by the Turkey-Syria earthquake. The entire 35 million JPY will be donated to UNHCR, with 20 million JPY earmarked for humanitarian aid for the Ukraine crisis, and 15 million JPY for disaster relief for those affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

Brother is deeply saddened by the impact of the crisis in Ukraine on innocent lives and hopes for their safety and security. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected in Ukraine and the surrounding areas. We also express our sincerest sympathies to all those impacted by the Turkey-Syria earthquake and hope for a swift recovery.
